Depending on the look that you want and the style of your outfit, you want to ensure that your necklace length is the perfect compliment. Necklace or pendant chain, length can dramatically alter the look of your couture.
Necklaces and chains come in various lengths so here’s a quick overview of each length, where it will sit on you and what type of outfit it will suit. and each serves different stylistic purposes. But remember, everyone is different, height, weight, neck length etc. so bear in mind that this is just an estimated guide. We recommend that you use your other necklaces or a piece of string to determine your perfect length.
- Choker (35-40 cm): Sits high around your neck (almost like a collar) and is a classic vintage look,
- Princess (45-50 cm): Looks stunning with high or low necklines and polo necks, drapes at the collar bones,
- Matinee (56-60 cm): This is a popular length for casual and office wear, sitting just above the bust,

Children's Necklace Lengths
All GF Jewellery pendants, chains and necklaces come with an adjustable extension so that the length can be adjusted for the perfect fit. The industry standard shortest length for a necklace is 14 inches, so that is the shortest length we can provide. The adjustable extension usually adds an extra 2 inches to the length to accommodate comfort and your child’s growth.
The diagram below gives approximate sizes but please be aware that this is just an estimated guide. We recommend that you use other necklaces or a piece of string to determine the perfect length.
For example, a 14 inch chain will fall at the base of a child’s neck but will fall much lower on a toddler.
The general length for a teenager (14+ years) is 16 inch +. To allow for different teen heights and sizes, we add an extra 2 inch extension chain to all our necklaces, to ensure the perfect and comfortable fit.
